My Final goodbye

My Final goodbye

A Poem by KristiLee

I see the moon shining bright,
The water dancing in quiet moonlight.
And over the hill right by that tree,
I cannot fathom the sight I see.

I hear the wind gently blowing the trees,
The small night owl, hiding in the leaves.
And over the hill, so far yet so near,
I cannot believe the sound that i hear.

I smell the pond off to my right.
The sweet smelling flowers closed for the night.
and over the hill, sweet and swell,
I am shocked at what i smell.

Over that hill is a marvelous sight,
A soft, sweet smell that fills the night.
A wonderful smell resides there too
Right over that hill, is you.

Your perfect face and your silky, blonde hair.
Your voice that rings through the night air.
That scent that follows wherever you go.
I've always loved you, but you'll never know.

For tonight is the last time I'll see your face,
The last time my heart will ever race.
The very last time I will ever cry
Tonight is the night I am to die.

Ever since you've met her my heart's been broken,
Ever since your love for her was first spoken.
Your love for her couldn't be more clear.
She's the only reason I'm standing out here.

I see you come closer, still calling my name.
You think this has all been some sort of game,
But all this time it's been very real.
You will never know the pain that i feel.

I hear your voice, louder with each step,
As I climb the tree where the rope is kept.
I stick my head through the loop, hanging from the tree,
And there you are just in time to see.

You see me jump, you watch me choke.
I also watch, as your heart broke.
I can tell as I watch you start to cry,
You run to the tree with tears in your eyes.

You untie the rope and pull me in
I watch as you realize the reason for my sin.
you hold me closer and whisper in my ear,
"I'm sorry, I've loved you for years."

My heart is racing at an alarming rate
You then realize you're already to late.
The rope did it's job, I'm almost dead,
You pick me up slowly and kiss my head.

I wish we could go back through the years,
Rewind time and erase all the tears.
But the past is the past and your future's with her,
So let's live in this moment, the past is a blur.

Your beautiful face is the last thing I see,
And the last thing I hear, you humming to me.
that final scent fills me as you hold me tight,
And I feel the warmth of your touch as I say goodnight.
