Country Roads

Country Roads

A Poem by Shalini R

At the top plateau of the

Sky-lit sea

One white-winged glory

Sailed, surfing air

Cutting the wind

With her grace.

A sweet country road

Followed and raced along

Tall stalks of still green corn.

And I still remember the

Dollops of clouds that

Ruled that day,

Prephorated and very sedated

Covering a sea-lit sky.

I remember thinking

I wish you were here.

Very good descriptions and yet so simple. I loved the lines --
"At the top plateau of the
Sky-lit sea
One white-winged glory
Sailed, surfing air
Cutting the wind with her grace.
A sweet country road followed and raced along
Tall stalks of still green corn. "
The lines so much fall into place and gets the flavour of the surroundings quite well.

"I remember thinking
I wish you were here."

I love this ending, I've had many experiances like this. Where I wished that person were there.
I've been in the city and while it has its charm, the contry will always have a place in my heart. There is such beauty there.

I've been on many road trips through Virginia... I think I was a bit more sedated than the clouds... but, yeah, it's like I went on a little road trip in my head :-) Good stuff.
