Quest

Quest

A Poem by hardeep sabharwal
"

Hindi version published in Amar Ujala 12 August 2004 English version in Larcenist s coming issue in october 2014

"
Heart, like a child,
pursuing for the Lamp of Aladin,
And in this quest,
I have lost glare of vitality,
And accomplished around an eclipse,
The longing to acquire Kamdhenu,
still operative in my deep soul,
and this hunt propelled me,
away from my own,
Made me stand blameworthy,
in the dock of all eyes,
Despite the wishes persist discontented,
My flesh is ravenous for
the shade of Kalpvriksh,
And in this hunger,
I have seared my soul
In the desert of isolation,
For achieving Chintamani stone,
What my pains and longing added
Though the chase deducted,
Diamonds of friends and relatives,
Slowly and slowly.

To what extent we all go through and suffer to achieve our desires and goals. I guess we all are chasing some kind of fruit...Bravo, sir...:)......................

This is a vivid description for the ages. The character you added to this piece by relating it to common themes, as well as adding in complexity for one to learn and wander was extraordinary. Thank you for sharing. Very well done.

You are very welcome, hardeep.
Loved the way mythology is taken into consideration for human desires, sentence formation is really very powerful. More or less, I find these things linked to those areas where human wants more and more out of everything and the price is 'walk alone'.

already read and enjoyed the things I found, thanks for that.
The last line friends and relatives parting with you is an eye opener. In search of truth, there are very few who will stand by you. In fact they are your only friends.
Enjoyed the read with ancient metaphors.
