Mildewed in My Mouth and Sunshine in The Morning

Mildewed in My Mouth and Sunshine in The Morning

A Poem by harmfulpoet
"

About a girl

"

The blaring alarm and blatant sunlight,

Prompt me to squint open my sticky eyes,

I hide my torpid self under the negligent blanket.

I leave my careless bed for the bathroom,

With my blurry squandered reflection in the mirror,

I stretch my stiff arms and legs, pleading for space.

The brittle sound of cold running water,

And I wash my raw, icy hands, cringe with indisposition,

I drench my face, cleaning and cleansing, my scars unwilling.

I slip on my clothes and put on my mask,

Trudge to my room, to aggregate and assemble my things,

My bag is packed, brimming and obese with books I loathe.

I smell the caustic stench of morning coffee,

My tongue staved with the bitter sickly aftertaste,

Mildewed in my mouth, strings my eyelids open.

Standing outside, there’s a disconcerting silence,

The morning sun casts lifeless shadows on quiet objects,

And the placid breeze is absent, and the air is sharp.

The car ride is tedious, honking horns and agitated drivers,

They all rush to their intention, frustrated, or festive,

I arrive, and I walk in, disheartened and disinclined.

Another slow, slacking day, laden with ignorance and spite,

My mind is tempestuous but my legs are hefty,

And I walk, callously, dreading so much, so wrong.

Out of the corner of my eye, I catch a glimpse,

Of her golden hair, as the scent of her peachy perfume,

Pervades the air, as she turns her head, and my facade drips away.

She has bewitching blue eyes, and a charming smile,

Her aura is alluring, and the ambience is warm and inviting,

She looks at me, eyes alight with passion, she’s peacefully profound.

I’m mesmerized and intrigued; she’s magnetic and spellbinding,

It’s all exciting and inspiring, and I feel a blanket of confidence,

Grow over me, my dejected, dismal disposition,

And I can’t help but smile back, ecstatic and delighted to see her.
