"I"

"I"

A Poem by Khaaki

My tryst with truth

Is always ephemeral

Having lived a lie

Instead of a life

I and my soul

Never dwelt in peace

Between me and my soul

Between me and my beloved

There is this “I”

The ego of this “I”

Echoes hauntingly

In the dark dungeons

Of self-indulgence and hatred

The songs of love

Of longing and belonging

Seem bullied and muffled

Beneath the rubble of this “I”

Be like a feather,

Let not this "I” be thy burden

Do not burden thy soul

With the ugly weight of vanity

The essence of love

Lies in nothingness

Oh breeze of dawn!

You ask of the agnostics

Definitions of the self

All I know is

My bosom hides a thief

A heart of many faces

How I wish I knew!
Which one is mine

~ wow... this is SHEER GENIUS... i'm absolutely amazed to read this profound and profoundly perceptive piece of poetry... ~ i don't think you're capable of living a lie but you're allowed to say so if you're writing a poem as exquisitely insightful as this one... ~ i agree with you entirely... ~ there can be nothing where this "I"... what i like to refer to as "hubris"... gets in the way... ~ there can be no self-actualization without the dissolving of the self... we have to be one with the universe... to experience its magic... ~ absolutely astounding work by an astounding poet who i am proud to call my friend... this much "I" and pride is allowed... :P
