Agha is your shahid, tonight

Agha is your shahid, tonight

A Poem by Khaaki
"

Ghazal, dedicated to Agha Shahid Ali...

"

Wayward drops are left on their own tonight,

Mercy or curse, I fear what pours down tonight…

Whither have fled the angels of Michael?
And the grey is dyed in brown tonight...

O' star of stars, I roam, I sway in wilderness,
why tuck away your twinkle, why frown tonight?

The vain peacocks unfurl their colorful collage,
and the whirl whispers to the Sufi, 'drown tonight'...

A king, at ease in exile, no petitions to hear,
easy lies the head that wears the crown tonight...

A thousand orgasms rupture my frail heart,

Who will mend now, what broke down tonight?

Khaaki, the beloved Agha is your shahid from heavens,

You found no house of God unbolted, in town, tonight…
