The Harvest

The Harvest

A Poem by A.A.Romanczuk

Rainbows fell around us

We harvested them in our baskets

To last the whole year

In seasons of darkness

To cure us with cheer

We reached for the stars

But they were not ready for us yet

So we bent and kissed the flowers

To give us memories of fragile beauty

We let them be, the artist’s song

And chased after the wind

To bring us sleep

And danced with the wise old trees

And laid ourselves in the waves

Of the sea

To prepare for the cold ahead.

This is the long journey of life..kind of sad how you tell it
how we spend our time ,our life before saying goodbye
times things fall between us like the rainbows
we just pick them up and store them so in the dark
they give us joy and light..times we try reach for the stars
but regretfully we are not that good yet to be able to reach
so instead we bend down ,down so low and pick some flower
to keep like stupid memories..and times we just left away some artist to sing
and ran after the winds, may give us sleep..we even danced with the wise old trees
for shame we did all this, getting ready ,we laid on waves in the sea
prepare yourself for a long night sleep..after all the jokes you done, and its no glory
if i read you well ,you summarise the trip of life and how we mess all through, before its time
how i loved this..such wisdom said in a very low voice, still kind of laughing and joking at it all
lovely write..

It is what You said and yet it is perhaps even more so about the little things that give us happiness..those little things that are as lights in the darkest hours :) You are as always, quite perceptive :) Thank You :)

Thank You All For Your Reviews :)
Extremely insightful, Emmah, and it rings with truth :)
Corey Rowley...I'm glad I could do that for You..we should spend more time carefree as children than we do..but that is an opinion that may be disregarded, of course :)
Thank You, Trevor :)
Alan P Kelly..there is nothing to pardon...cynicism is in good order at times..besides where else may we make such free use of it if not here or through writing? You express Yourself beautifully..I could not but agree with Your statements about the stars :)
M.Kilani..it would be my honor to read Your poem :) And I will do so as soon as I can :)
Serah..as always You are overly generous but I thank You :) It's an honour that You think it an honour to read of my simple words :)

- once i stood - at an unnamed crossroad - where the stars were close enough to hold - and there were these high voltage cables - keeping the stars from us - (went from 'i' to 'us' i know) - and even that buzz of high voltage - dotted the silence - far thicker - than the stars dotted the sky - and yet, somehow - that sky lasted many cold winters - maybe that's how things are!!!

Oh yeah......the images here were dancing through my head. Felt like a kid at Disneyland for the first time. The line about the stars was fantastic. Great work.

prophetic...the stars will never accept us as we are...never...we could...as we tend to do...go to war with them...but...there are too many...countless by comparison...and will would lose...as we do...as we always will...lovely poem though...well constructed and philosophical...pardon my cynicism...

Warm and cheerful start the flow of images takes you slowly into the moment of season change, the flow of words is lyrical I can really feel a breeze of cold.
nicely done, a cheerful version of my poem October, which I'd like you to read.
Well done.
