I Dreamt that I were Me

I Dreamt that I were Me

A Poem by Hitchopotamus

I dreamt that I were me
And you were you.
Two waves collided,
As heaven decided.

There stood we,
Your hand in my hand and mine in yours.
Wind's sweet serendipity whispered.
Through your hair as it sang
Melodies divine, unearthly beauty.
Powerless were we, but gladly so,
For the air that night did in me ignite
A fear, an urge, a tangible light.
That night of love, of passion's prose,
That night in me stirred a thornless rose.

I dreamt of stars, of cygnets born,
Of aged poems their beauty torn,
Of painted wings on birds of prey,
They danced above the hill we lay.

Sang sweetly they who borrow time
Of heaven's song, of truth, divine,
Of riches spilled, of lavish love,
Of you and I caught intertwined.
It there poured forth upon my mind

I dreamt that I were me
And you were you.
That we were all this earth had knew.
That love could flourish and dance and be.
That you were you, and I were me

*Welcome to "Pure Rhymes" Thanks for joining, great to have you...!*

Such expression through appraisal of just "being"... Melodious rhyming, and well-done meter... Impressive and elegant...

*I dreamt of stars, of cygnets born,
Of aged poems their beauty torn,*

Good stuff...

i like the mix ... free verse with rhyming and alliterations ... in this dream fantasy of love i am not sure about :
"Of painted wings on birds of prey,
They danced above the hill we lay."
birds of prey such a contrast .. especially since your rose has no thorns ;)
i also like the title and weaving it about the poem the way you did ..makes the closing a nice wrap up
