Because you need to understand

I pour my feelings into words
You do the same with songs
I see how much this hurts you
And that you just keep moving along

Your dads life may be shortened
But his love for you is not
So don't act like he'll never be there
Considering how much he fought

His fighting isn't over
All his dreams are still there
So look into his eyes tonight
And show him how much you care

Finish that song you wrote
The one that made him cry
Except I want you to fix it
Make him understand why

Why you love him with all your heart
Why you would hate to see him go
Why you've been so distant now
And why you can't get the words to flow

You've paused at this song
Because it's so hard
To explain how you feel
When you won't let down your guard
