This is not a paper heartA Poem by Jack...A poem for Valentines Day
This is not a paper heart By Jack Ivey Within the glow of candled flame Sparkling mists of heaven’s sun Comes now washing down on me This love which pours my only one To lift my heart to seeing heights Afloat upon cool whispered air I breathe the sighs of lost below Who find that this is mine to share On corners of a filtered sky With clouds that disappear on sight Beneath the greenest valley’s flow Painted soft within its light I gaze towards horizon’s crown Patches of a rainbow’s place Colors fill the distant dance Of smiles seen upon my face Shimmering the ripples bare A picture filled with happiness Along the wooded crest we see Alone to bring the mind's confess For this is love I know it's true To touch the feathers oh so fine And whistle when the night is new Forever as I do entwine This heart which beats a mile long Down winding walks of lavender So deep the shadows fill the field Of dreams that nightly do occur Where here I stand in open stream Of thoughts so pure of endless whim That of this life I long to breathe Now that you’ve smiled on me again As this, a day of lovers song My Valentine I hope you’ll be For this is not a paper heart But all the love that you can see Now twilight sets its mood filled tone The sun does set upon the brow Please love me always, be it known My precious girl, I need you now
