East to west (and back again)

East to west (and back again)

A Poem by Jack...
"

A beautiful sunrise with thoughts of someone you care deeply about.

"

East to West (and back again)

Not even a voice, merely words on a page,

a welcome, a smile, waiting as I lift my eyes

From slumber, kicking out the last of my dreams,

only to find that they do not end

Orange sherbet skies paint my windows

above yawning tree lines at the end of a dirt road

Persimmon outlined shadows

dance about my walls inviting me to look

I grab my cup, hot but needed, step into my shoes

passing through to morning, taking a sip…

I find more beauty than my eyes have seen,

while birds flit from branch to branch

The air is cool, unusual but so very pleasant,

heated days form in my memories of yesterday,

when cool springs were no match for the flamed heavens…

yet perfection now touches my skin

And I see, before me not a morning, not a brilliant sunrise

but you…your words, your touch, finding me at a distance,

telling me that this day is ours, beyond horizons…

East to west and back again…for the beauty of my day is always you

always so lovely your swoons, they make all the ladies sigh, it's true, don't deny, you know we need the romantic words to keep our own dreams alive. So beautiful Jack, what more can I say? My favorite stanza is :
Not even a voice, merely words on a page,

a welcome, a smile, waiting as I lift my eyes

From slumber, kicking out the last of my dreams,

only to find that they do not end

love the orange sherbet skies...

i like those images you use that get us there, we see, hear, touch, taste and smell all you do..

and this relationship...which makes the day complete...

the person receiving these words would be quite moved...since we know your readers are.

OH OH OH....I am ALMOST speechless! Jack, the beauty in this poem is overwhelming! First of all, the love of nature. The beauty of a sunrise that takes one's breath away is etched with your every word. I could picture you standing there with a cup of coffee gazing out at Mother Nature's artwork. But, the icing on the cake for me was the melancholy longing for someone you love. A poignant ending to a magnificent write. Thank you for this one! Saving it. Lydi**

such a beautiful moment. I love the way you capture the depth and beauty in little moments that many of us rush through and simply don't see.

Thank you so very much Tammy. Your words are always bright sunshine to my day.
Jack, this one has me hearing your padded footsteps from bed to kitchen, pouring a cup, out to the deck, eyes to the sky, mind straight to her. Lovely and soft reflection. Angi~

Ha! You ain't kiddin'.
I've not come by in a while...sorry about that...I'm doing my best to offer time and reviews to the masses here at the Cafe...and now onto your verse:

The first stanza kicks this into gear...with the way you convey your words to the reader...

and then:

The second stanza goes into the imagery of this verse...as you revel in the moment in the third stanza with what I assume is a cup of Joe...as you go into detail in the fourth stanza...contemplating the moment...and you seal this well with the end line:

East to west and back again…for the beauty of my day is always you

just as your title and the theme of this throughout the whole aspect of things in this write...good to read you...

You have an incredible knack for bringing romantic scenes and feelings to life with your imagery my friend...I love the orange sherbet skies, the hot but needed cup (I especially related to that one haha), the yawning tree lines, and so on...a perfect mix of nature, reflection, and romance...the natural images just make the poem breathe...another great piece :)
