The Power of Rejection

The Power of Rejection

A Poem by Jayden Ireton

This is me.

I am the only I.

Every day craving acceptance and fearing rejection.

I grow into my own skin every time I try,

But rejection scares me so much I almost never endeavor

I am not wanted, I do so fear.

Why do we as humans let no one draw near?

We could all show acceptance and make the world a better place,

But instead we draw back watching others fall on their face.

I used to think it was hate that let this be so,

But now I know they fear rejection too

So to help they are slow.

Rejection runs the world it seems,

A bunch of cowards we are not helping

Not chasing dreams.

This is wonderfully written. I have to agree with you, we try very hard to create a world of happiness but when someone is suffering we tend to draw back out of fear. This is beautiful. Thank you for writing.

Very good topic, I confess that I feel the same , is really hard to be accepted in this world , because people judge you before even knowing you . I liked the poem its really revealing ,, well done
