She Saved Me

She Saved Me

A Poem by Joshua McNay
"

After a bad night she came to save me.

"
I know you're asleep and I hope this doesn't wake you.
But honestly girl, I wanted to thank you.
Earlier I was feeling real low.
Sitting in my truck, alone with no place to go.
I had a date to take my mind off things.
She didn't show my phone didn't even ring.
I sat there, feeling sorry for me,
all the while thinking what was wrong with me?
Thoughts crept in that were too dark to share,
all because she didn't show up there.
Why'd she say yes if I clearly wasn't good enough?
I put on a brave and tried to act tough.
But inside I was a little boy seeking attention,
I could see it my eyes in my sad reflection.
It's hard to think you're unworthy of love,
I was on the edge and she provided the shove.
I was free falling out of control,
I could feel the sadness taking hold.
But just as I was at my lowest point,
thinking what else would come and disappoint.
My phone lit up with a familiar chime,
but wait not once but six times.
It was you, of course it was.
You know how to cheer me up better than anyone else does.
You were an outstretched arm reaching out for me,
to pull me from the darkness surrounding me.
The light of my life in more ways than one.
Saved me from myself when I thought I was done.
There are so many words I could use to thank you.
I wrote some here but just know I love you.
I can't help what you do to me,
what can I say girl you saved me.

Lovely sentiment here. A friend when you really need one. When you have hit rock bottom and there is a person or a member of the animal kingdom there to comfort you. What a difference that can make. Your poem ended on an uplifting note and that pleased me.

Thank you

Chris
