A Man

A Man

A Poem by Jay M. Jones
"

Should speak for itself.

"
The Makings of a Man.

A Man cannot be measured by what he withholds,
but rather what he chooses to give.
A Man cannot be defined by the amount  money in pockets,
but how he spends the money in his pockets.
A Man cannot be judged by his inability to express the contents of his soul,
but how comfortable he is with who he is, and what his soul looks like.
A Man does not hide who he is.
He is careful when he needs to be.
He let's go when it is necessary.
He follows his instincts, and the internal compass God gave him.
He loves his children...his wife...his mother..his father.
A true man does not hide from the world,
he reveals himself to it...because it's braver to do so.
A true man does not hide from himself,
he recognizes his shortcomings and works every day to improve himself.
When a man makes a mistake, and realizes it..he does not accept it.
He fixes it. Even if it hurts, even if it's uncomfortable.
A true man has pride but keeps his pride in check.
A man does not look to control, or subdue a woman,
he let's her fly, because he recognizes that love is freedom and freedom is love.
and if a woman is happy, and trusted...she will love him better and he will love her better.
A true man does not shut himself off from the light, he immerses himself in it,
even if it blinds him.

I know all this because I have not always been all these things, but a true man learns fro his mistakes.
