fear

fear

A Poem by james l navas

I'm afraid.
Of:

What I can't see,
What I can,
What I shouldn't.

What could happen,
What won't,
What shouldn't.

What I remember;
Everything.
The sweat,
The smell,
The heat,
The noise,
The screams,
The face. The face of pain and anguish.
There when I close my eyes,
And when I open them.

I'm there now
afraid.
And here
still afraid.

How I feel. Guilty.
How I don't. Human.

What I do;
How
Why.
What I don't do;
Why.

Afraid of myself
Who I am
What I am.
What I can do
What I can't do.
