Poise in Oak

Poise in Oak

A Poem by j.t. Nawn

an idle wave to a crony

is how i begin each

expedition to.

maple and oak render

benevolence as we

exchange us.

i sense their silent

rhetoric built

with time and

in discipline.

making no bones, the

forest amplifies a familiar tone

a quaint display- a

hero’s welcome.

vermillion leaves trickle down

like confetti i sense

celebration.

august percussion echoes

freely from inside

the nebulous river

keeping time so perfectly

it can’t exist.

birds attempt (chirp__!_)

mimicking some grand

organ but I

am not so sure.

a fortuitous birth and

an ample forest-

i owe everything.

Wow, Jake. You really dug deep into the depths of the soul and were not afraid to show the world your vulnerability. This is quite audacious and so incredibly beautiful, like a painting. Not all who write poetry are actually poets-but you most certainly are deserving of the title "POET." Now that we've seen your talent, we need more of your poetry!!!

i find this to be wonderful ode to the poets who came before us....that respect and admiration for those who inspire us to keep writing the words...to follow in their footsteps hoping we can honor them by doing the best we can with our inspirations.
