Hello

Hello

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
"

After a week of work

"
“Hello bed
Hello sheets “
I know I slept in you
On those empty lone filled nights
Can’t really recall
I felt so very small

“Hello trees
Hello blue gums “
That sway in mornings easy breeze
I’ve missed you
Missed your flirty breeze striptease

“Hello birds “
Oh kookaburra parrots and all
The rest
I’ll feed you once again
As I sit with morning coffee
Under wood pergola there
And beat my soulful breast

“Hello kids”
It’s nice to see you in clear light
When mum gets home from work
I’m tired and dead to all that’s fun
And bright
We passed like some woeful ship
In evenings slumber light

“Hello air”
I can finally take my breaths
Without the pressure
Of feeling always second best
Breathe in
Breathe out
Let’s live this weekend
With not a moments doubt
I shout

Finally “hello dog”
I’ll pay you some attention now
I’ve missed you too
Let’s play
Let’s run
Let’s chase that lonely ball
Let’s hide n seek
Up lonely hall

And now it’s “hello me”
In old shift old faded flower dress
With pink thongs
And hair run wild and growing long
It’s me
I can see it’s really me again
This is reality
This is the real me
So “hello stranger
It’s hello me!”

the hustle and bustle of life can really make us lose ourselves.
i really like the "flirty breeze striptease"
all the things we miss when we live life too fast...my class and i today were going over Emily Dickinson's "because i could not stop for death"
some similar ideas...she (the speaker) lived her life so fast and furious she didn't even have time to die.
yes, Hello Stranger.

Thanks Jacob for your insight and review
taking a break from a stressful week can do wonders, it brings up new vitality and inspiration.

Is it any wonder that we all could use a break from those nine to five days? Just a little down time, to appreciate the peace and quiet and all that we are grateful for. Nicely done, Julie!

Thanks
It is a sad thing to have to work so much in life that we miss all the important part of life... But sometimes we need to work to live and life doesn't take a back seat... Thank you for sharing
