Ballerina One

Ballerina One

A Poem by Knij Nagili

A lone ballerina in a stage of shadowy halls

Dancing to a cacophonic beat

She’s still on her toes when the curtain falls

The audience applauds. What a show.

She twirls and she swirls on her dainty feet

A lone ballerina in a stage of shadowy halls

The tempo is a raging flow

But she keeps up, an amazing feat

She’s still on her toes when the curtain falls

Yet they demand that she go slow

One by one, they leave behind an empty seat

And a lone ballerina in a stage of shadowy halls

The drummer struck the final blow

Still she moves on in her frenzied heat

A lone ballerina in a stage of shadowy halls

She’s still on her toes when the curtain falls

Ah, ballet... my first love. To dance is to be alive. To put on the shoes and carefully lace the ribbons is like breathing. I felt her, alone behind the curtain. You captured this so perfectly. LOVE it.

I love poetry that I can visualize. Therefore, I love this. Its a great piece executed beautifully. You are very lyrical in the way that you write, which is a very refreshing thing to a reader. I love your style. I will definitely read more of your work.

I like how the rhythm of the poem makes you think of a dancer. Beautiful language too!

This is really powerful. The symbolism it strong and the beat of the poem is moving.
You might want to change the font colour though, because you have to highlight the page to read the words.
