Progressive Self-Destruction

Progressive Self-Destruction

A Poem by Courtney

 The fool covers his ears

as he lowers the rusty neck,

shattering colorful coral,

sending sea life scrambling for their lives.

He manhandles the

last virgin shale

to keep his destroyer crushing

'til there is nothing left to

destroy.

The shale is liquified then

heated for delivery by truck.

The cargo flows in to its tank

then is vomited skyward.

Night falls

earlier and earlier.

The black blankets

the lone star;

all have been sizzled out

by careless human spit.

This stubborn fighter,

brightest of all,

is the last to lose its fuel.

Yes I agree, nicely done. The message needs more voices behind it. I liked this very much. It's very in your face without the mean and nasty you might expect.
