Marine Mom's Serenity Prayer

Marine Mom's Serenity Prayer

A Poem by Bright Ocean Star
"

Prayer for sanity and strength

"

Dear Lord, Our Father in Heaven,

Bless me with the Serenity to understand

You have called my son to the Marine Corps.  He must land--

On foreign soil --- both near and far

To serve and fight and stand post and guard.

Give me the Courage of heart not to cry--

Keep me busy to make the time fly by.

Fill my mind with duties and tasks

Until the day when he comes back.

Grant me the Wisdom to know that he must serve-

He was born to stand, march straight; not bend or curve.

He stands ready to fight to defend

Our Freedom until the very end.

* --- * ---*

Archangel Michael, fight beside him in Battle-

Be his right hand; his Wingman.

Shield him--Defend him

Protect him from Evil.

Keep him safe

Now and

Forever,

Amen.

Author's Note

Bright Ocean Star
There is another 'Mother's Prayer' floating around in the ether that does not have an author of origin. I hate to copy another person's work, so I was trying to make up my own.
I call this Marine Mom's Serenity Prayer. I hope I didn't plagiarize anything.
What do you think?

i like it ..i think you capture what it is surely like to be the mother of a person in service to the country ...all of them ... i think its emotive and i connected to it easily ... 2 verse, lines 2&3 end in "cry" and "fly by" respectively ..for some reason that stands out to me as something that shouldn't work (i don't know why) but it does ...it works well and puts an emphasis on those emotions of worry, anxiety and fears ..plus faith and hope .. very good to see you posted anew Bright Ocean!! :)

I can relate to your thoughts so deeply here, our son is a serving member in the Canadian Army and did two tours in Afghanistan in 2006 and 2009. As parents we fear for their safety but are proud of their service. Every TV news report of a soldier's death over there was torture even though we knew if something were to happen to him we would be informed before the media was. I think it was the thought that some other parents would be going through a hell that we missed, this time.
