     A long, long time ago, in a backyard in Connecticut, a four-year-old boy proposed to his three-year-old neighbor. After they promised each other forever, he gave her a plastic ring which she never took off her finger.
     Three months later, she moved away to Massachusetts, where her father started an airline company and became rich and famous. The little girl grew up and forgot all about her promise to the boy, instead becoming engaged to a wealthy and stiff man whom her parents were very pleased with. The wedding date was set, invitations were sent, arrangements were made...
