Your words bring to mind emotional contagion when one person's emotions and behaviors directly trigger similar emotions and behaviors in others. This kind of mimicry is common in humans, primates and dogs. It can be so destructive...

It's far far far more common in humans. In many, many different forms. All the way from Munchausen syndrome to Couvade Syndrome, no animal pathologically fakes emotions like a human being. The mental state of the human population is currently a rationalized destructive kind, other animals, not so much (mostly because they are not capable of causing mass extinction on their own).
