I like the conviction with which it is written.
Knowing the writer, it is an informed choice, made for the good of all. Begetting offspring is not known to be an illustrious way of leaving a mark on the world.
Yet, destiny is known to often make a fool of one.

Children are awesome - they give you the opportunity to learn and grow - most parents don;t thin they can learn from kids - but oh man, when you allow it a whole new world opens up. Children give you another chance at making the world a better place. My father always told me we choose our parents for the lessons we have to learn this lifetime - I do agree with that - I also feel it a privilege that my boys chose me. I’m sorry I cannot just agree blind llike the rest of your followers - I had a Talisker a singlemalt - nic and smokey and I am happy to lounge in the fa that I know I am an awesome mother with two amazing human beings as sons - but no kids are not for everyone and neither is following people blindly (if you get my gist)

Don't be sorry for not agreeing, you do so in a way that's genuine which is the best way to do anything here regardless of most things.

Some children are awesome, but not all. Some people have good parental instincts, but not all.

The second part of the former is directly correlated with the second part of the latter.

Bad parents tend make bad children or at least make for a bad childhood environment and that's not fair to anybody. If the human race ever starts to run out of people I might reconsider. Due to the average influx of about 85 million new humans per year (and exponentially increasing) I think the species will be just fine without a contribution from me (if you get my gist).

It's all about choices. Some people aren't cut out to be parents. There are too many dumb parents out their in my opinion. Far better to make an informed decision from the outset. This is honest, even though it might come across as being harsh.

There's a movie from the early 2000's called 'Idiocracy' that comedically addresses a dystopian future after too many stupid people had too many stupid children over too many generations regressing the gene pool to a collective selection of idiot traits and collective social attitudes that skew toward anti intellectualism and consumerism.

I'm no fan of eugenics but there is something to be said in regards to natural selection unnaturally being bypassed. A decline in productive and successful genetic traits will lead to an eventual extinction event just like a major disruption to the food chain or an increase in poisonous atmospheric gasses or a major shift in global temperature... there's been 5 major extinction events in the past 600 or so million years but none of them had to do with willful stupidity.

Short and cruel yet innovative and deep, such is your poem. I am still 18 and don't know what it is about to raise a child but looking to those times when I had to raise a puppy, rabbit and kitten; I know it requires a more careful, monotonous and arduous work to raise a human child and it hurts if they don't grow up to be on terms with our expectations. But still the experience we receive while we grow them is beautiful in it's own way and it doesn't go waste. So I won't criticize your poem on the basis of your ideology in writing it but it's way too dark and in a good way; that's all I can say.

Thanks for the review by the way. I don't mean to frighten anyone off of have children. I do mean to enunciate (through a comedic lens) how important having a truly life long commitment/responsibility is in regard to raising a child. Having children is not about survival anymore, it's about contributing to the human race in a positive way beyond just reproduction.

I think the people of my country(India) need to read this and UNDERSTAND this. They are going on making child like the mass production used by Henry Ford but this time the products are defectives mostly. I am not being cocky but luckily I didn't came defective.
