It read "the gulag archipelago" a long time ago for a class. It still terrifies me to this day... it's one of the few books I will never forget, even if I wanted to.

There's more to it than that of course. The gulag is just one of the outcomes of tyrannical socialism. Which is the only kind of pure socialism... enforcement of that style of government must be by way of a tyranny. Most people only see the surface 'egalitarian' parts and that seems very appealing... but to actually enforce that over large populations requires some very dark methods of enforcement. You must force the most talented members of the population, at gunpoint, to forfeit the benefits of their talents. There's a reason why socialism has never worked for long en masse at any point in human history.

Something similar is taking place today with regard to social behavior. The anti-hurt feelings movement has become more intolerant than what they portended to be against in the first place... to the point of disregarding free speech for the sake of safe spaces (a tyranny of aggressive "peace"). The reaction to that, in America at least, was the electing of a dumb assed clown for president. If this idiotic game of identity politics continues... ugh... mr moron will get re-elected. (and it terrifies me)

I honestly have no idea what's going to happen with that. Anyone who says otherwise one way or the other is full of s**t.

I think the idea of having a single leader for such a massive organization is antiquated anyway. If the 'founding fathers' were magically brought to life they'd probably say something like... "you guys haven't changed this s**t yet? There were barely a million people in the country back then... now there's 350 million and you're doin' the same s**t!!! You're all morons."

But if we have to have one... I just want him or her to at least be rational. This dude's not rational and shamelessly narcissistic to boot. That's a very dangerous combination.
