Dia de los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos

A Poem by rvnwlf248
"

Day of the dead celebrates the lost loved ones. And this is what the holiday is like from this grieving woman's point of view. Its a work of art!!

"

Tasting like sugar

Painted beauties

to hide my pain

maracas and colors

spinning skirts

and food

carved masks

to hide my true feelings

I place a single flower

on my lover’s grave

my heels sink in the dirt

as I walk away

Candies and kissing

couples holding hands

while they dance

but alone, I stand

seeing red

and pink, yellow, greens

but everything is grey

at least to me

In gloomy silence

I bow my head

as I rejoin the moonlit dance

of the dead
