Tale of Two

Tale of Two

A Poem by Matthew Kult

Tale of Two

By

Jayden DeVoir

How can I help you get passed that I am a girl?
Trying to get by in the same confused world.
You call it a mistake, caught in the vulnerable whirl.
Our experience was true, not friends mentally twirled.

I offer more than his use and mental abuse.
There will be no take, no break, We can be us.
Not some trophy, nor a prize, I don't need booze
To love you. Give it a chance, or simply discuss

Our possibilities. You initiated that first kiss.
Stop running. I am your best friend, not some sin.
Don't push me away. Please don't give up or dismiss
Our bond, our trust, our night of love. Let it begin.

Take our friendship to a higher emotional devotion
Share life as equals. We'll walk together in slow motion.

Damn, mental boom all around in this one... That last line, however, really delivers it home... Higher emotional devotion in slow motion, whoosh... Elegantly penned and rhymed...
