Across the Belleau Wood we go

Across the Belleau Wood we go

A Poem by Matthew Palmer-Jones
"

Across the Belleau Wood we go

"
Across the Belleau Wood we go,"forward boys forward go !".Just look at us streaming out of our trenches! While shells about our heads shower and screeches !Our battle lines arrayed in good order, soon to push the Krauts to there border !the Kraut Gunners start rattling away, dissolving our ranks "Onward, into the fray !".The rifles soon start chattering away, driving us to the ground...out of there way.But above us our brave Sargent bellowed "come on ...do you want to live forever !?".The shot refused to touch him,the shell seemed to bounce of him .so then we chose to follow him.So we rose to our feet, and charged once again.Little we new we would do this again.
