Looking at You

Looking at You

A Poem by Megan Lynn

Looking at you I see it all
Every joy, every downfall
Listening to you I hear it all
Your sad and broken call

If you let me speak
And stop making me out
As being so weak
Then we can talk it through
The past and present
The me and you

Let me see
What you've been hiding
Deep inside I know
How you feel and it's tiring
Let me help you up
I can't just let you give up

Looking at you I see it
You're broken and defeated
Listening to you I hear it
In the past you've been beaten

If you let me, I could try
Because it kills me
To let you sit and cry

If you hear me out
I can save you
From this dark and deadly cloud
Then we can talk it through
The past and present
The me and you

This is well written and well thought-out! A rhyme scheme and musicality that.....I'm simply at a loss for words at how to even describe it. It's above all a relatable subject, and had moved me. Those last three lines (and the fact that they're which repeat) simply got to me. Well done!

I really enjoyed the "From this dark and deadly cloud
Then we can talk it through
The past and present
The me and you"..... Definitely gives a clear and crisp ending. I also like how the poem is vague about what exactly is making this person upset - the reader knows it has something to do with the past relationship of some sort, but other than that, we are unsure, which then creates interest. Good job!
