Listen for the Lost

Listen for the Lost

A Poem by Megan Lynn

Do you still hear the voices?
Do you still talk to them?
Are they making your choices?
Are you reliant on them?

It's not easy letting her go,
but it's for the best
Trust me I know.
I wouldn't let you live like this,
but it's not up to me now.

Do you still hear the voices?
Do you still talk to them?
Are they making your choices?
Are you reliant on them?

It's not healthy staying awake,
but if you just close your eyes
Sleep may save you.

Do you still hear the voices?
I hear her now.
do you still talk to them?
I hear her now.
Are they making your choices?
I hear her now.
Are you reliant on them?
I hear her now.

Medication. I think of medication. Doctors asking you- then person deciding whether or not they agree. I don't have access to this type of thought process or experience on a basis; but you depict and storytell something connectable-bly actual(ly). A bit that doctors don't help. You depict vividly though, and great.

Definitely something I can see being performed, especially when looking at the last stanza. I would elongate this poem - I think it has more potential to have even more of a rhythm if you make it a bit longer. Good work!
