Anthem of NaËve

Anthem of NaËve

A Poem by Amelie
"

A Villanelle

"

I caught myself in a familiar throng;

Shoulders rubbed against thighs and heat been bled-

There is something so wrong with nothing wrong.

Muffled screams tuned as a dissonant song,

It wants me to hear truths I know none of :

I caught myself in a familiar throng.

Magdalene’s hearse will stop by here erelong

And I will be veiled in black to her taste-

There is something so wrong with nothing wrong.

These eyes saw pale- skinned women dragged along;

They've shed no tears- all’s been left, long vanished.

I caught myself in a familiar throng.

Here I am clothed in nothing but a thong;

Intoxicated, thrown to a landscape of bloodiest red-

I caught myself in a familiar throng.

There is something so wrong with nothing wrong.

Not only bodies can be prostituted; the risk on minds and souls are higher.
(Twas such a battle to use "thong" but oh well...)

You've tapped into the irregular vibration that infiltrates the universal consciousness..you've got some lines here that should become an integral part of literary history..The classical wordplay along with the shocking imagery almost mimics and nestles/integrates into the raw energy stream you tap into. It took a lot of fortitude and poise to pull this off. You would have my respect and admiration based on writing like this alone, but you know you already have it from me. Poems like this really make me glad you dove back into your writing.

I found this to be a well written piece. So far my treasure for the day as I don't find too many good poets who write as good as this. You set a mood, piqued my interest all with unique phrasing, great metaphors and brilliant verses.

And thank you for reading.

My pleasure.
The repetition works well, especially in its syncopation. "Nothing's wrong," are two words too quickly spoken, to shut down all of the wrong that could be felt. Eventually what is behind the gate overcomes it, flooding with all their original power over the one locking them in. Strong piece.

I'm always looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks for the insightful review, Steven.
this gave me chills... the long term psychological trauma is deep seated, when it becomes the usual, we can't even face the pain, this write makes me feel like I'm spiraling down a path of shame.. the acts are performed in servitude and keeps you powerless... why doesn't it feel like anything anymore... that is most chilling..

I'm glad to know your thoughts and how this piece effected on you. Thank you.
Interesting . . . there's no doubting the effects of prostitution on a woman's brain--it strips them of any semblance of love and hope. It's the same way with men, too

I really enjoyed the theme of this poem--when you get to the point where you can look at this stuff and not find anything wrong with it, you're in trouble

... and it goes to all types of abuse as well. Thanks for the insightful review.
