Darkness

I keep having
that dream
The one where
I'm home alone
and slowly
all the lights
begin to burn out
I try
to call for help
I try
to fix them
I try
to go outside
Nothing works
Soon the world
becomes darkness
My body trembling
in fear
I awake
in cold sweats
shivering uncontrollably
The darkness still present
engulfing me
Now from the outside
and within
Nothing endangers me
I just suddenly need light
Every time I sleep
I dream
all the lights burn out
Now I'm afraid of the dark
