The Missing - Space 1

The Missing - Space 1

A Poem by Mai L Nissen

The Missing

In this space, we live

unable to touch

or see the heart

of another.

Try to reach out

and within seconds

your body and space

they’ll incinerate.

The bubble,

in which you

existed will

evaporate;

Leaving no trace

of your existence.

The space,

confined within

the bubble,

seamlessly

merges with

outer emptiness;

As if it was never

there, a distinct

separate entity.

The space

that was you.

Only those,

who themselves

yearn

to reach beyond

their bubble,

to escape

lonely confinement

- Only they

notice the missing

Interesting piece Mai.

Independently we do what we please, so long as our bubbles remain intact. Once we reach outside it, that very bubble will cease to be. The advantage of the bubble is that we are safe from outside interventions on our mind and actions. However, that may be the very disadvantage. Without the bubble we leave ourselves open to new experiences and perspectives. And only then do we realize (and perhaps see) the bubbles of others and recognize that our own bubble has gone missing.

An interesting piece that upon multiple reads, still drum up thoughts and questions to inquisitive minds. Thanks for sharing this and I hope that I will get some stuff written to share with you as well! - James

There are things that you read, reread and keep reading because every time you do so, you find new meaning in words and that's what make this poem special.

Thank you for your kind review, Mayank! I appreciate you reading it - and rereading it :)
Metaphysically empowering, quiddity of life is the essence confined inside our own bubble, deep thinking from a deep poem. Thank you for posting this, it is spectacular.

'The space, - confined within the bubble, - seamlessly merges with outer emptiness;.. '

Glorious ever-present space empties and fills at will, but we mini mortals just walk blindly thought it, treading carelessly, rarely looking forward or back. And at times are near to bursting that bubble.

We waste its mystery, its gift. Sad. Your writing is worth far more than a narrow box..

The world seem colder to me. Rare deep and true conversations.

The above lines were my favorite. They could stand alone. We can be ghost with-in a work place. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
