Stormy Weather

Stormy Weather

A Poem by Angelheaded Hipster
"

Remembering...wanting

"
I hear the rain, pattering
splattering against my window
and it takes me back to an afternoon
of uncertainty and electricity
between you and I.

Was it a date? Was it a day
of just hanging out?
You call it romantic now,
but then, I wasn't sure
even in the surprise downpour
when you grabbed me

and kissed me.

The kiss lingered that day,
it stayed, singed my lips,
burned its memory into my brain
and stayed.

With every rainfall that I have witnessed
during the time that we were on our
separate roads,
I wanted that kiss back.
I wanted your lips meeting mine,
our hair, our clothes soaking,
clinging to our skin and not caring

I love that kiss.

And I thought I'd have to wait forever to find a good, sentimental love poem on this site. Clever images that immediately conjure up a real picture in the mind, using simple language that means the words don't get in the way of the poem. It is in the same vein as many other poems on here, but the blood flowing through it is visibly richer for being pumped by a stronger, truer heart. Hope that was not too convoluted, and it was meant as a compliment! Thank you very much for posting the poem.

A kiss is wonderful but a kiss in the rain is magnificent.
I love the images and ' singed lips',"our hair, our clothes soaking,
clinging to our skin and not caring"... beautiful images.
So good to read you again .. i really like this one.. romantic.. such a good last line "I love that Kiss"

Peace

I love that kiss.

I love that image, of our hair, clothes soaking, clinging to our skin and us not caring.

We grow up so quick, travel so far apart - for me, it is not distance from a loved one in a typical sense, but from myself, the younger self that I almost killed (Metaphorically). He knows the right way, that love does exist, that he can write love, bring joy through writing to the world.

Of course this is a love poem, a conventional one but I have seen in it something different and though I do not sexualise myself, I am learning that it is ok to love myself, quite a new concept for me. Your poem has pushed me along a little further, so thank you very much for giving it and me life.
