Evanescent Boundaries

Evanescent Boundaries

A Poem by Ashley N.G.
"

I'm told to talk about my feelings, not keep them bottled inside. This is my way of talking, so here are my feelings about a fading loved one. Death is never an easy thing to watch unfold.

"

We are standing on the edges,
there is nothing we can do.
Except stand back and watch it happen,
pretend this isn't you.

Slow fading memories,
begin to re-awaken.
Push them further into darkness,
until they are forsaken.

Drowning in the cruel reminders,
they threaten to resurface.
Choking on the blistered silence,
stuck on finding purpose.

Speech is lost in raw translation,
only you can understand.
For we are only silent beggars,
who are forced to watch the sand.

Such a deeply moving message... It brought me back to the time my mom passed away. The loss is stunning of someone so involved in your life and worth. Your final words capture this so well: "For we are only silent beggars, who are forced to watch the sand." Yes... We can often only observe...
