Ten Thousand Angels Cried

 

 

Angels bowed their heads in tears

On that crucifixion day

They had to stand and watch

As the Lord of heaven died

He could have called them all

To save His life that day

But he chose to die instead

For a rebellious race

The angels heard them call out

Crucify Him on the Cross of pain! Crucify Him on the Cross of pain!

Crucify Him on the Cross of pain! Crucify Him on the Cross of pain!

My angels do not interfere. My Beloved Son chose to drink this cup

Crucify Him on the Cross of pain! Crucify Him on the Cross of pain!

Crucify Him on the Cross of pain! Crucify Him on the Cross of pain!

Still they had to stand still

And watch the horrendous sight

Their tears fell like rain

Onto the earth below

No one ever realized

That it wasn’t rain

But heaven’s loss

Became earth’s gain

Salvation came to all below

And now the angels sing

Praise to the Lord of heaven

We praise the King of kings

We watched Him roll the stone away

And arise from the grave

Our tears of sadness and loss

Have now turned to tears of joy

Jesus is coming home this day

To the Right Hand He will sit

He will be the reason

God’s children will come home

That day will be worth all the tears

That fell to earth on crucifixion day

The agony of this is felt in the lines...the repeating lines adding effectiveness of the write...and the experience that the angels are enduring and their tears are not rain..but sorrows from heaven...
