Grandma's refreshing water so cold
Because pipes were buried so deep
But to my whimsical childlike mind
Her water was of the magical kind
We kids all raced for the dipper
That hung beside grandma's sink
It's the dipper Billy exclaimed
Keeps the water cold he claimed
We girls however, knew better
A magical kingdom thrived below
Beautiful fairies from days of old
Fluttering wings made the air cold
Not only cold was her magicial water
A sweetness dampened my tongue
And glistened on my lips like honey
In the sun's bright golden rays so sunny
At night I had sweet dreams
Fairies dancing all around
Sparkling fairy dust danced in the air
Falling on grandma's water with flair
The Queen of the fairies sang
As she sprinkled her sparkling dust
This magic water I give thee
At no charge, my magic water is free
Now that I am grown and a mother
My children now race for the dipper
I tell them about the fairy wings
And the Queen of the fairies that sings
I see their wide-eyed wonderment
As I tell them my sweet fairytale
Faces light up when the drink
From the dipper beside grandma's sink
I'm a grandmother now and old
Grandma's house is no longer there
But the water still flows from below
Still sweet and cold, don't you know
Grandma's house now replace by a park
In the center a water fountain stands
Grandma's dipper is hanging there
Children enjoy magic water in cool spring air
