Grace

Grace

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Grace

Grace opens her beautiful brown eyes

To the early morning dawn

She is mesmerized at the sight before her

As she looks up into the morning skies

A face in the clouds looking down

On her with such love

She blinks her eyes several times

On his head, he wears a crown

The smile on His face

Is brighter than the sun

He holds her gently with His gaze

Her entire being feels his warm embrace

She recalled calling out His name

Into the darkness of the previous night

She prayed for her mother live

And to be free from all sin and blame

At first she didn’t hear the phone ring

Even though it blared through the silence

He spoke her name, telling her to pick up the phone

She heard her mother’s voice and she heard her heart sing

"Doctor is calling it a miracle," she heard her mother say

She had awakened from the coma in the midnight hours

"Come and get me Grace; I’m ready to come home."

Grace looked up. "Thank you Lord, I’ll never go astray

Grace spilled her pain in the midnight hour

Jesus came to answer her prayerful call

Without a doubt Grace knows for sure

Her Lord and Savior has all the power

Grace looked again, but His face

Faded behind white fluffy clouds

And only a moment later

He was gone without a trace

Still, she knew Jesus would always be there

Whenever she needed another intercession

So close her Savior now in her heart

She needs only to kneel in prayer
