Haiku Enough

Haiku Enough

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Haiku Enough

The pain you have caused

I say enough is enough

Remove yourself now

Heart can’t take no more

Shrink into oblivion

Leave this body now

You’ve eaten away

Everything that’s good inside

Gluttonousness Nature

Devour all you see

You know no rank or station

Ages, you care less

Cancer is your name

You took my dearly loved son

At the age of three

The wound is still fresh

My child suffered at your hand

And died in my arms

You didn’t stop there

My husband now feels your curse

You take all that’s mine

You sting comes again

My husband could fight no more

He’s now with the Lord

I told you. Enough!

I’m praying unceasingly

May God end your reign

God send us a cure

May no one else feel its sting!

Destroy Cancer now!

Sad and powerful tribute to that of which many yearn for there to be a cure.. it has touched my family.. and this poem is a necessary rant of a fine poet whom I did not realize had 2 such huge losses.. my condolences go to your precious heart.. Cancer is a devastating disease that touches so many .. including the family members who have to sit and watch.. and can do little else other than try to provide comfort for their ailing family member.. thank you so much for sharing your pains.. and may they find a cure.. certainly that day will be a very happy one for all.. =)
