Garden Of The Deep

Garden Of The Deep

A Poem by Neal S

With a poets awkward grin
I pull your words within

The here
And the now

I brush the hair from your brow

In the wounded shadows we dance
Our walls
Our weapons
Crumble with a glance

Love-sick children
Abandoned sleep
Our souls become one

In the garden of the deep

You have a way with words Neal. I liked this little meaningful poem. I just shoot from the hip and hope that I hit something.

Thanks Robert. Maybe poetry is just a collection of wet noodles that poets throw at the wall and hop.. read more

I think you are right there my friend.
This poem is creative & thought-provoking. Nice word-crafting ("poet's awkward grin" . . . "wounded shadows" . . . "abandoned sleep") & rhyming.

Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoy it!
We build those walls with concrete, only to see them crumble like dust, effortlessly, when we find ourselves in the right garden of the deep. When we find it though, it is a release that the walls built so high were not made as strongly as we thought, our guarded so well. Another excellent piece my friend. You're on fire.

Thank you so much!! :)
Tender and achingly beautiful is the thread that runs through this Neal. Lovely is an often misused word but here it fits so well.

There's a real tenderness to the brush of hair from the brow. This poems makes me think of two people who have darkness in them but are joined in love, and as one they venture off to bloom together.
