poem is inspired by the book Fahrenheit 451

I was so blind to the truth

For so long they were the sun

But my sun gave me darkness

They tamed me like a wild beast

Forced me into a cage far too small for my spirit

And this whole time I was okay with it

Until I realized I didn't know who 'they' were

And why they controlled me

Finally I snapped

I broke through my cell

Picked my lock

And when the world saw me for me

It terrified and hurt them

And I couldn't bear being the devils monster

It hurt my wild heart so bad it broke in two

And before I knew it

I was running

And when I found a place for myself

The world broke down around me

The world that forced me into submission was gone

And all that was left was the things they tried to rid of

Our independent thoughts

Our individual worlds

damn...this is so heartfelt and raw...so existentially strong in the fact of the pain of a persons enlightenment when scrutinized and attacked by the mob/societal mentality...

Wow. That is a very powerful poem, and I think many people can connect to it, especially me. It is amazing, considering that you don't feel that confident as a poet. Really all I can say on the constructive side is let the flow, flow! Other than that, terrific job!
