The Cage: Freedom

The Cage: Freedom

A Poem by Penny Lusk
"

For approx. 4-5 years, I've been living with mental abuse and sexual abuse. This poem is the great turn-around and freedom of all that, it is the "turn around" from my orginal: The Cage

"
The Cage:
        Freedom
Dedicated to Sergeant Shannon Kingston and Chief Terry Davis of the Hahira Police Department
        Thank you!!

Before, the cage was life,
Full of dark, death and despair,
No chance for escape and life in one.

Before the key was death,
Death was only a sweet kiss from lips of Escape.
Escape, at one time, had only one option:
No chance for Escape in life.

Life changes just as the Earth turns,
Never believe in life as an ending battle,
As with not one thing to turn to for life,
Believe in life as a never ending rule of peace.

Now, the key is life,
Life is the only sweet embrace from the embodiment of Peace,
Peace is the bringer of happiness and security.

Where there was sadness, there is now a sweet bliss.
Where there was despair, there is now repair.
Where there was suicide, there is now breath.

The cage door has opened,
Leave the dark, enter the light,
Find life is not drowning in a pool of black despair of cage bars,
But life is:
The sun rising from the ends of the earth, in a golden-orange of hope,
The kissing breeze of freedom flowing across the Earth, in a blanketing secureness,
        The scent of realness, truthfulnessFree.
Life described in all of one word, Life is FREEDOM.
