Friends of Past

Friends of Past

A Poem by N.Sevilla
"

When everything changes, it's nice to hold on to a bit of the past.

"

In a life of change

Where time runs quick,

Like water in a sieve,

We often find our hands grasping air

When we were sure there was something there before.

Not even the minds inside our head

Are forever frozen;

They too become strangers in passing.

Which is why distance never mattered,

Not to us,

Though occasional heart pains care to argue.

No, it never mattered much,

As long as we could grip a single drop,

Holding tight before it evaporates.

A friendship from the past,

Unchanging in its hold,

To remind us from where we’ve come

And to where we’ll go.

I might change the word "pass" to "passing" on line 8. It is good to hold on to some constant as things change around us. Thanks for the reminder.

Ah thanks for catching that!
thanks...your poem makes me think of memories and things I often reflect upon. the present is too fleeting to grasp at times. But certainly i will have a chance to think of today in more depth tomorrow...
