“Ganymede”

Hello my name is Ganymede

A prince of Troy was I,

Taking watch upon Mount Ida

Was when I caught Zeus’ eye.

A rustling of feathers and

An eagle there did land

For to take me to Olympus –

Mighty Zeus he did command

“No mortal is there Ganymede

As beautiful as thee –

You must stay here on Olympus

Where we can together be.”

So I became cupbearer,

Serve ambrosia to the gods and

When Zeus is feeling randy

We go off and have a sod.

This was not the life I’d chosen

But I’m glad that it chose me,

Immortal unlike Phrygia –

My name is Ganymede.
