Anthem

Anthem

"What do you want?"
"Have mercy on me."
I know what it is to have everything and yet have nothing.
I know what it is to have nothing and yet have everything.
I prefer the latter.

I yearn to be like blind Bartimaeus.
Faith unshakeable to the core.
Waiting.
Following.
Seeking.
Believing.
Persisting.

Crowds trying to silence me.
Taking what's on the outside.
No control over the inside.
Knowing which side 'pon which bread is buttered.
 In a Jericho moment.
We're all blind.
We all seek the light.
We all wait by the roadside.
We all beg for truth.
We all tell our story.
We all owe.
We all sing our ...
... anthem ....
