Stairway to Heaven

We must be careful.  Life can be a paradox.  We can spend half of it filling ourselves up and the other half trying to purge what we put into it.  We want to live fast and hard but slow and easy is the recipe.  I'd rather miss a bus that goes nowhere than catch a ride to hell in a hand-basket.  I would rather die old with a smile than young with a grimace.  Better to sit in a rocking chair on Heaven's porch for eternity than on a Harley-Davidson in Hades for a day ...

Author's Note

Pete
“The childish and savage taste of men and women for new patterns keeps how many shaking and squinting through kaleidoscopes that they may discover the particular figure which this generation requires to-day. The manufacturers have learned that this taste is merely whimsical. Of two patterns which differ only by a few threads more or less of a particular color, the one will be sold readily, the other lie on the shelf, though it frequently happens that after the lapse of a season the latter becomes the most fashionable. Comparatively, tattooing is not the hideous custom which it is called. It is not barbarous merely because the printing is skin-deep and unalterable.” - Thoreau

Of course.
Life is a paradox of filling and purging depending on the phase of life or mindset we are in at the time. I'm pretty sure I got an old painted mare waiting for me in heaven. So I too will pass by that hand-basket to hell.
