Save It for Later

Save It for Later

A Poem by Pete
"

"The most difficult thing to understand during conversation is silence." - Thoreau

"
Image result for people giving advice

"Blah, blah, blah."
"Hardy har har."
World runs its crooked jaw.
Birds of prey saying, "Caw, caw, caw."
Babies wailing, "Wah, wah, wah."
"Do this" and "do that."
Bad omen like a black cat.
Adorned in boots and pointy hat.
Tantrum of a teenage brat.
Wonder where she parked her broom?
Move over and leave some room.
Everyone with something to say.
Leave me alone, go away.

Crooked, demanding fingers point.
Welcome to the clip joint.
Running on like a dirty joke.
So glad you came and spoke.
Waiting for the punch line.
I don't care, never mind.
They all want to have a word.
Going off like a wild herd.
Step right up and speak your piece.
"Quack, quack, quack" like a flock of geese.
Everything will be OK.
Tranquil ships don't go astray.
Cached away in my storage freighter.
Think  I'll just ...
... save it for later ...

I wrote a poem, some years back, about “too much blabbing” . . . country living does not welcome all these noisy gyrations. It makes me crazy when occasional neighbors come out here from town (mostly “vacation” homes around me) & bring all their noisy pursuits like shooting a gun for an hour straight or running all over the hills in un-mufflered wheelers. Some manicure their property with noisy leaf blowers & weedwhackers for hours, kicking up dust & rearranging detritus that the breeze will put back as soon as they leave here & go back to town for another month or two. Most of the time, I have & treasure my peace & quiet, tho. Speaking of “peace” . . . about 7 lines from the end, I think you might mean “speak your piece”?!?! Anyhow, this is very good rhyming (& you know I love that) . . . and you can tell from my blathering that I relate strongly to every word. Your writing is always so original & packed with strong details! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Being one who hates excessive blabbering, I actually felt a bit of tension by the time I got to the end. (That's pretty effective writing, I'd say) Many years ago, Ray Charles was asked his opinion on rap music. "I don't care for it," he said. "It's just talking, and there's already too much of that in the world."

i like the poem sometimes it is true that in periods of silence we can have the time to reflect what our next step in life should be but then despite the chaotic noise around us, we crave for a little quietness even for just a moment
