Small prints

Small prints

A Poem by A hare off

   Such a sad listing

the newspapers cried

winter months, sorrowed months

headlines claim on last page bits

small prints

read over and over

   Knees kiss frozen earth

near granite reminders

dressed in plastic flowers

frozen droplets wept

diamonds released

gemmed moisture seeping below

   Clouded heavens open

beams of warmth flow

to a single spot

covered in new grass and snow

far beneath woolen sweaters

where the ground sleeps peacefully

it is not a long time for most to experience "Knees kiss frozen earth" in our lives ... death and dying and putting to rest is the chapter written for all ... and we weep and morn
"frozen droplets wept
diamonds released" (i love those lines! honest tears are most poetically diamonds .. good stuff :) and as an optimist i think your closing is divine ... as one can be on earth anyway ;) a fine emotive reading experience ..deep well and well thought out says i!

I have this thing where I tend to see things as moving graphics, or scenes from a movie. I don't know if it's because Sin City's been drifting at the surface of my brain recently, but I see this piece unfolding in black and white, with certain words such as 'kiss', 'flowers' and 'grass' visualising in vivid colours, and I find this to be very suiting to the piece. Every word has a certain weight and emotion attached to them, which makes the image feel so raw and vivid - something which is not easy at all to conjure. Loss and pain is a wound that will heal but still continue to remain a tender spot.

Needless to say: Beautifully penned.

In such a season, with winter coming fast, the essence of loss here is overwhelmingly both beautifully portrayed and emotional, an exceptional poem :)

To write something that another feels is a great accomplishment. I stand honored. Thank you HeyJadeX.. read more
Apparently sad but extremly lyrical. This gives me plenty of word pictures to conjure my meanings. One of the strongest images I get is of death and remebrance. Kneeling before a grave and remembering. An exceptional write.

~ for me, this is a very intriguing piece of writing... with varied sentiments... ~ i am reminded of the fine print in newspapers that have obituaries... and sometimes messages for loved ones who have gone missing... ~ there is a certain warmth in them... even though a newspaper has a very cold feel... ~ i really like the "diamonds released/gemmed moisture seeping below" image... it's exquisite...
