Dumps

Dumps

A Poem by A hare off

Why are dumps always down,

places of regret and sorrow,

corners of loneliness and despair,

locations harboring fear and desolation,

spots where dreams

become nightmares?

When on the surface

they are nothing more than

a collection of decaying refuse,

a pile of discarded rubbish,

a plot of earth to dispose of

the unwanted or unneeded,

the used and the empty.

Why are dumps always down?

Why am I down here?

Human feelings and emotions - natural - cause and effect - cant be avoided at the best of times. Been there. Have to tolerate at times when upliftment is hard to reach! have a great week end my friend!

Thank you Kitty for reading and for your review. You are correct about that, unavoidable.
Good question Anthony, We live in a world where happiness is not always easy to find. Within ourselves. Outside happiness is easy. Pcs games, movies, gym and so on. But inner happiness what makes us tick is another thing. And keeping hold of it. Is an even bigger state of mind.

no problem Anthony. :)
That is such a good question.
I can relate I guess. To being down.
Hard to find the line to grab onto and pull yourself out so maybe poetry is a good place to look as a starting point

Thank you for your comment. I agree some but at times it seems it can extend the pain too.
Ah, yes...the dump, or as I used to call it, J (junk) Mart. Here, no one is allowed to look through the discarded stuff anymore. Attention, J Mart shoppers! We have a broken light special on Hill 2...someone threw out half a dozen frozen pizzas; they have thawed, but are not yet spoiled! Also of interest, a box of ice skates--it's August now, but December will be here before we know it!
All of the excitement has gone out of a visit to the dump here, I'm afraid. Safety regulations; what a bunch of p*****s--(no offense to cats and/or ladys' genitals...

I've visited our local dump numerous times. I have good news for you. They are places where much is recycled. They are a hive of activity. They are fascinating places, just to stand and watch. Sometimes I am thinking why are they throwing that out, there's nothing wrong with it. And then sometimes I feel down in the dumps, but I know it won't last before I bounce back. If you are down hopefully it won't be long before your spirits are at full mast. I enjoyed your poem.
