Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice

A Poem by rachael dunn

When the days begin to get a little longer,

light comes home to northern places.

The Yule falls quietly, silencing the wind,

As winter promises skip by softly

Snow angels spin bright, white ribbons

Returning light to the globe.

disseminating sunlight cascades away

Revealing starlit skies apparelled

With cold clarity we warm the fires of tradition

Winter solstice is a time,

to feel the frost and the fire,

darkness and light rule the world.

Love those last three lines the best and also the way "winter promises skip by softly". Perfect poetry for the winter solstice, this time of darkness and returning light.
