Love to a Hateful Death

Love to a Hateful Death

A Poem by Rachel Williams

A worrisome heart

and a restless mind,

Who’d thought

this life was mine

Who knew

I’d give my heart to you

Too bad

You couldn't too

“I’ll be gone in the morning”

and I’ll be dead by noon.

A vacant shell,

bound for hell.

“I’m done.”

I’m at my limit.

Floating lazily

under the sun,

wishing desperately

I wasn't so buoyant.

Sinking to my death,

not missing my last breath.
